Abstract

Higher education research is a relatively young field with close connections and unclear boundaries to neighbouring disciplines. It defines itself rather through its research object than through shared theories and methods. Its object of research, however, is often strongly influenced by national circumstances. In Switzerland, it is evident that the field cannot (yet) be described as an independent scientific discipline, since, for example, there is a lack of institutionalised training for young scientists or of platforms for mutual exchange. This article attempts to present the state of higher education research in Switzerland through the analysis of publications by authors from Switzerland. In particular, topics and co-authorships are analysed.
