Exploration of the teacher’s portfolio as a tool for reflection and curriculum implementation

Abstract

This journal contribution presents the teacher portfolio as a thought provoking tool for teachers from the perspective of professional continued education, especially in the field of languages. This reflective tool fits right in with popular and current thoughts concerning continued education. Here the active participation of the teacher in the decision making process is accentuated. The continuity of reflective practice should lead teachers to make themselves more aware of what they know, their competencies and their convictions. Further, through a teacher’s self awareness and through being motivated enough, teachers have the chance to become involved in the changes and reform process which has taken place in the past few years of the education system.
