Natural sciences in secondary education : A look at the canton of Zürich and at Switzerland

Abstract

This article first presents some findings on the structure of instruction, quality and use of educational books and materials, as well as the quantity and content of education and training of teachers in the field of science in secondary education. This provided the basis for an empirical survey in the form of a teacher questionnaire in the canton of Zurich. Design and results are presented afterwards. Summing up, some resulting conclusions for the development of science education are shown.
