Teaching Oral Communication in Québec: State of the Research

Since the turn of the new century, the teaching of oral communication has grown considerably in Québec. The present article provides an overview of current research relating to the teaching of oral communication in that province. The status of oral communication in primary and secondary teaching in Québec, as well as that of research concerning the teaching and learning of oral communication, is addressed. Studies of the evaluation of oral communication skills are discussed and future research perspectives on the teaching and learning of these abilities are proposed.
