Migration raises questions regarding the right to education and the responses in the relevant countries to these challenges are varied. The situation of the most popular «francophone» destinations – France and Quebec – is questioned in our article. Free access to education and equal opportunities, the best interest for children and the respect for international commitments designate the landscape of the right to education. The analysis illustrates that France respects wholly the right to education, whilst in Quebec the legislative framework and the ambiguous status of «resident» constitute obstacles to the right to education of migrant children. Our article enriches also the reflexions of researchers from countries with high level of migration such us United Kingdom or Switzerland.
